Today's
my birthday! I was supposed to have my last studio visit for Art 365 today but
it was postponed for this wednesday. I'm going to work on my prints instead.
Get some work done with the free time. I'm almost done with all the large paintings
for the show, now I've got to get my butt moving on the prints. I always seem
to work in waves when it comes to making art. I'm always doing something, but
it's either prints, paintings or something else for two or three-week stretches.
Then I realize I'm neglecting the other things and work on them for a while.
Anyway, I'm going to work on my current etching plate and finish the image on
another one. Here I go...
Today
was kind of rough. We're getting ready for our next big exhibit at the gallery
and it's crazy with tying up loose ends and getting inventory ready, designing
last minute programs and wall text and printing out labels for the artwork.
A lot goes into an exhibit that people don't ever see. The parts that are crazy
like frantically mopping the horribly dusty floor (which takes about two full
days by the way), or running to the printers to pick up the catalogs and making
changes to the price lists. Sometimes everyone gets at each other's throats
but then when the opening comes and the gallery looks perfect and people are
milling around drinking wine and looking at the artwork it makes the hell you
just went through seem worthwile.
